Saint Patrick's Day went without too many hitches. I ended up in the proverbial arsehole of nowhere, otherwise known as Ivan's place, for shits, giggles and double vodkas. We ended up back at some random house party, which wasn't so much a house party as a hall party (yes, they somehow squished aboot 20 ppl into the hall of a house and wouldn't let them go any further...). Then back to Ivan's, I *may* have *accidentally* fought with Katie, something aboot me being mean and her having a big head....I'm not exactly sure what caused that...and I got to sleep aboot half 6.
The next day was spent arsing aboot Rathcoole and having fights using mandarins as ammo. Then into town we went and off to see Dragonforce. Thanks to my brother and a lovely lady who gave me two tickets, I was enroute! To be honest...I went primarily to spite Niall, who loves Dragonforce but flew out of Dublin that day. He was so bitter...it was hilarious!! >:D In the end however, I had a really good time! They're most definitely a band who go all out to "put on a show" and they do!! Plus...the fucken pit was huge!! >:D All sorts of getting me in there!! Hehe, funny story, one of the guys with me, doesn't know me all that well, I was to one side, looking on at the pit and choosing a target...he flung me behind him and made me stay there to keep me safe cos he didn't want me to get hurt, he was trying to protect me! Sweet and all as this effort was, as Dermo so eloquently put it "DUDE!! You shoulda been tryin' to protect the pit FROM HER!!" :D
After Dragonforce, along we went to Fibbers, to arrive just in time to see Silent Conflict go onstage. Now I've seen these guys before, and let me say that they were good then, and they've *hugely* improved since! It may have been caused by seeing Dragonforce ten mins before going in, but everyone was raged up and away! Fibbers dance floor is quite small so just enough space for a mayhem pit. I claimed tiredness and mostly stayed moshing to myself out of it...this being said, once or twice some lessons had to be taught and a few skulls bashed, mine included :/
After they were done, Mike Got Spiked went on...now, these guys are getting a bit of a rep around Dublin, probably deserved, I can't say. They got more ppl up to see them than Silent Conflict, however I believe this is their devoted following I've been hearing a lot aboot. Silent Conflict however were well able to appeal to those fresh from Dragonforce and get the room shaking some more! I even bought their album! Truth be told, it's disappointing :( Only four songs, when I wanted to hear much more of them, and the sound on it is off. Well, not that I'd be a good judge of it or anything...I suppose I'm biased because they sounded so much better live! There's no way a CD could live up to that! I was still well chuffed with it though as I managed to get four of the six guys to sign it! :D Three cheers to that girl who somehow managed to have a silver pen on her!!
Em...that's it...other than that I spent ~30hrs watching Stargate, my thanks to Kev who lent me his laptop whilst he was away. I woke up on Sunday with 12+ assorted bruises, an aching back and neck, and no voice, thanks be to Silent Conflict and Dragonforce (damn Dragonforce and losing my voice within the first ten mins...I wanted to scream for longer...). Now I'm back in work and have little to do...remind me to pay for Nova Rock this week... w0000000000000000000000000000t!!! :D
